A Certification of Trust is typically used when dealing with others in connection to the Trust. If you’re working with someone else and don’t want to provide a complete copy of the Trust, a Certification of Trust can be used instead.

Common uses include:

  • Using a Certification of Trust when funding a Trust
  • Providing a Certification of Trust to a bank in connection with accounts held in the Trust
  • Recording a Certification of Trust if real property is added to the Trust
  • Sharing a Certification of Trust when naming a Trust as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or a retirement account
