Should I name backup Healthcare Agents?

A backup Healthcare Agent is someone you designate to be your Healthcare Agent if the primary person you designate is unable to fill the role. Similarly, a second backup Healthcare Agent would serve if neither the primary, nor backup, are able to be your Healthcare Agent.

We strongly encourage naming backups! Naming a Healthcare Agent is one way to help protect yourself from the unknown. Naming backups helps make sure you have someone named, even if your primary choice is not available.
