Estimating Asset Amounts for Probate Filing

What do I put for assets when I can’t access the bank accounts?

Only a rough estimate of the assets is needed for the initial filing. The court uses this estimate to determine if you qualify for a simplified process.

Once appointed, you will have the authority to collect all assets and report the assets' values by filing an Inventory of the assets.

If you qualify for a simplified path, such as a small estate affidavit, you may be required to show proof of the value of assets or provide specific asset details, such as an account number. If you cannot get this information and cannot proceed with estimated values, you may require full probate.
