How to Use Your Attorney Account to Support Clients

As a Trust & Will attorney user, you have access to a dedicated platform designed to help you efficiently manage client estate plans from intake through review. This article outlines how to use your account to track client progress, analyze estate planning documents, and deliver high-value guidance with less manual effort.

What You Can Do With Your Attorney Account

From your Attorney Dashboard, you can:

  • Upload and process client estate planning documents
Drag and drop client documents directly into the platform. Our system will classify, analyze, and extract key data points using AI-powered tools.
  • Review AI-generated Estate Plan Summaries
Once a client’s documents are processed, you’ll be able to access a structured summary including key roles, dates, provisions, and plan components.
  • Access structured document data
Open the client detail view to see organized outputs from the platform’s AI agents—such as executor names, trustee assignments, and identified life events.
  • Leverage the Attorney Assistant (AI chat)
Ask questions about a client’s uploaded documents, key plan details, or platform navigation. The assistant is available across your dashboard and persists across sessions.
  • Add and view client notes
Use markdown-formatted notes to document conversations, decisions, or follow-up tasks related to each client’s plan.

How to Upload Client Documents for Processing

  1. Navigate to the client’s profile
  2. Click Upload Documents
  3. Drag and drop files in PDF, JPG, or PNG format
  4. The system will automatically:
    • Extract text and identify the document type
    • Match the document to the correct client
    • Populate data in the Estate Plan Summary
    • Run a signature analysis to detect missing signatures

Note: You will see a consent prompt before using document extraction for the first time.

How to Review an Estate Plan Summary

  1. Go to your Attorney Dashboard
  2. Select the client you want to view
  3. Click into their profile to open their Estate Plan Summary
  4. Review extracted data including:
    • Roles (executor, trustee, guardian, etc.)
    • Beneficiaries
    • Dates of execution
    • Document types
    • Observed plan gaps or missing signatures

You can download the summary as a PDF to store in your records or share with clients for review.

Client Status Definitions

Your dashboard shows each client’s current status to help you prioritize follow-up and action:

  • ACTIVE: Client has an estate plan in place
  • NEEDS UPDATES: Potential gaps or outdated documents detected
  • DECEASED: A death event has been confirmed through life event monitoring
  • ARCHIVED: No current activity; client has been moved to long-term view

Statuses are powered by automated life event detection and document review data.

Using the Attorney Assistant (AI Chat Tool)

The built-in Attorney Assistant can help you:

  • Summarize uploaded documents
  • Locate key client data (e.g. “Who is the trustee in Sarah Lopez’s plan?”)
  • Understand platform tools and workflows
  • Ask general estate planning questions
  • Review client-specific plans without manual searching

To open the chat, click the AI icon in the lower right corner of any screen. Your conversations are saved until cleared.
