Once you've purchased your plan, you're ready to finish building your estate plan! Here's what to do next:
- Complete your questionnaire: Head back into the questionnaire to finish filling out all the required information. This includes key designations like guardians for your children, an executor for your Will (or successor trustee for your Trust), beneficiaries for your estate, and healthcare agents for your Advance Healthcare Directive.
- Review your documents: Once all your information is filled in, take a moment to review your documents and make sure everything looks accurate.
- Print or ship your documents: When you're ready, you can either download and print your documents at home or request a shipment to have them delivered directly to you.
- Sign & notarize: After receiving your documents, sign and notarize them according to your state's requirements to make them legally valid. Check the instructions page of each document for specific guidance on how to complete this step.
- Mark your documents as signed (Trust plans only): Once signed and notarized, log back into your account and mark your documents as signed under the Documents tab so your plan stays up to date.
- Fund your Trust (Trust plans only): If you have a Trust-based plan, don't forget the final and most important step: transferring your assets into your Trust. A Trust only works if it's properly funded, so be sure to retitle your assets and update your beneficiary designations accordingly.
