How to Add a Trust to Your Will-Based Estate Plan

How do I add a Trust to my Will?

If you already have a Will through Trust & Will and decide you want a Trust-Based Estate Plan instead, you can upgrade directly from your account. Adding a Trust is like an upgrade — all the information you've already filled out stays put, and you'll simply be adding Trust documents to your existing plan.

I want a Trust-Based Estate Plan, but it's only letting me purchase a Will-Based Estate Plan at checkout.

This can happen if you have already started filling out the questionnaire with a Will plan selected. In that case, you have two options:

  1. Purchase the Will plan first, then upgrade to a Trust from your account settings afterward.
  2. Reach out to Member Support to switch your plan type before purchasing.

Important pricing note: When upgrading from a Will to a Trust, you only pay the difference of $300 between the two plans — not the full price of a Trust. If you purchased a Will and then paid $300 to upgrade to a Trust, you have not been overcharged. The price paid for the Will is not refunded upon upgrading — instead, it is applied toward the total cost of the Trust plan. The total amount paid across both transactions equals the standard price of a Trust-Based Estate Plan, the same as if you had purchased a Trust plan outright from the start.

How to Add a Trust to Your Will-Based Estate Plan

  1. Click My Account
  2. Click Settings
  3. Scroll down to the Add-ons section
  4. Click Add a Trust
  5. Complete the checkout process — you'll now be upgraded to a Trust-Based Estate Plan

All of your previously entered information will be saved. However, you will need to revisit each section of the questionnaire, as the Trust is structured a bit differently from the Will. Once you've gone back through the full questionnaire, your new estate plan documents will be regenerated and available in the Documents tab.
