Once you’ve signed your estate planning documents, your financial advisor can now record that for you. This keeps your plan up to date, so you don’t have to log back in and update it yourself.
What can my financial advisor do with Collaborator access?
With Collaborator access, your financial advisor can:
- View your documents: See your estate planning documents.
- Record signing dates: Mark your documents as signed or notarized for you.
What access levels can I give my financial advisor?
You can give your financial advisor one of two access levels:
- Collaborator: Your advisor can view your documents and record signed or notarized dates.
- Limited: Your advisor can only see your plan type and plan progress.
You can also remove your advisor’s access completely at any time.
What access does my advisor get when I share my plan?
When you choose to share your estate plan with your financial advisor, your advisor automatically gets Collaborator access. If you’d prefer, you can change their access to Limited at any time.
I shared my plan before this update. What access does my advisor have?
If you shared your plan with your financial advisor before this update, your advisor still has Viewer access, which lets them view your documents. Nothing changes unless you update it.
Viewer is no longer offered for new shares. It’s been replaced by Collaborator, which lets your advisor view your documents and record when they were signed and notarized.
If you change your advisor’s access, you won’t be able to switch back to Viewer later. Collaborator is the closest option and keeps your advisor’s access to your documents. Limited only lets your advisor see your plan type and progress.
How do I change or remove my advisor’s access?
- Log in to your Trust & Will account.
- Go to Sharing.
- Find your financial advisor and choose Collaborator or Limited, or select Remove access.
Your financial advisor can’t give themselves Collaborator access. They can only send you a request, and only you can approve it.
What happens after my trust is marked as signed?
Once your trust is marked as signed, a few details in your plan are locked to protect your signed documents:
- Name
- Relationship status
- Spouse’s name
- Trust name
You can still update the rest of your plan anytime. If you need to change one of the locked details, just reach out to our Member Support team and we’ll help.
